dirty little whirlwind, i'm pinned to the heart of your swirl.

bullshit.

i just got back from this workshop that dealt with spirituality and getting to know ourselves better. we were reading tarot cards and were asked to interpret them in ways that would give us more insight into ourselves. my card was the six of pentacles and i got confused so i started making shit up. i’m never really honest when i do things like tarot card readings; usually, i just pretend there’s some unspecified thing that’s incredibly wrong with my life and requires a spiritual journey to resolve, just so i have something to say.

‘you must answer this question: what spiritual lesson is this card teaching me?’

my answer went along the lines of:

‘i think it’s telling me that i have to stop burdening myself with other people’s problems. i must first deal with my own issues before helping others with theirs.’

it was all bullshit. people always come to me seeking advice, but i don’t really burden myself with their problems; they don’t depress me or anything. and there aren’t any serious issues in my life other than my grades, and those don’t seem to have an effect on my happiness (i choose the path of ignorant bliss concerning that problem). i think everybody in the room left under the impression that i was going through a stage of emotional distress. i left having not learned anything about myself.

but there was free food, so at least it wasn’t a complete waste of time.
