running on three hours of sleep, yeyeye.
woke up early for church this morning, even though it was totally obvious we were going to miss the entire sermon. i had to change out of the outfit i was originally going to wear because it was too slutty – over-sized diesel tanktop ftw – and apparently flip flops aren’t church appropriate.
after church, my family made its way over to a family friend’s place, which turned out to be mildly creepy. she’s a pretty aged woman and something of a hoarder – thoughts of how appropriate she would be for the tv show kept flitting through my head – so her apartment was filled with odd little knick knacks, tins of cookies and boxes of chocolates scattered around the room.
i spotted one box of chocolates in particular and wanted to try one, and since my sister had conveniently dared me to (unnecessary, as i’d already dared myself), i reached out, opened the lid and shoved one in my mouth, my parents walking in and out of the room during this sneaky process, causing me to stealthily shield the box from view whenever they came into sight. they were probably wondering what all the sporadic, panicky movement must have been – they probably thought i was just spontaneously spazzing again.
refreshments were offered – two different types of pizza, fruit, chips and some questionable sunny d – and we were all hesitant to partake. talk of gypsy curses and the eerie feel of the place had me kind of tentative.
on the ride home, kelly texted me to let me know that our last minute plans were a bust, so i headed to eatons to sort out some shit at abercrombie – i haven’t even started working and i’m already kind of irritated by that place; management could definitely be better.
i coincidentally bumped into colin as he was walking out of the back room just as i’d been trying (unsuccessfully) to punch my employee password into the register so i could request more time off. i caught him just as he was on his way home.
he showed me the music video he’s editing (looks amazing, btw), we gorged on cookies and went up to the a&f on the upper floor to buy an edition of the previously banned ‘quarterly’ and get him a new shirt. apparently his employee discount card is pretty shit.
and then we decided to watch inception (we’d both been hearing amazing things about it), which i thoroughly enjoyed. it’s not a movie you can fall asleep in the middle of and expect to be able to follow when you wake up; this is a movie you have to pay attention to in its entirety. the rules of the dreamworld alone were enough for me to have to stop and think a bit, while still paying enough attention to what was going on to understand what was happening.
a dream within a dream within a dream; as confusing as it is fascinating.
complete mind fuck, but that’s the kind of movie i like; movies that make me think. i mean, i had to wiki it as soon as i got home (which turned out to be of very little help as the person who wrote the article didn’t actually understand a number of things). plus, all the actors were pretty good.
it definitely gave me food for thought.
imagine being able to manipulate the dreams of others; to create anything you want, things that are so frankly impossible in the real world, things that we might call magic. how amazing would that be?
i’ve decided i want to be an architect.
(random ‘fact’: dill flavored popcorn is an acquired taste)
