dirty little whirlwind, i'm pinned to the heart of your swirl.

DISCLAIMER: this is a personal blog (i just want to write about my life 😭) and does not necessarily reflect the views, opinions or perspectives of my employer or church.

to new beginnings.

above: a few of my new friends and i preparing to go out.

i’ve been in montreal for a week and a few days and i’ve only just now found the time to write anything about it.

everything has been this drunken, hazy mishmash of new things, new places, new people – new street names to remember, new pubs to crawl, new clothes to wear – new posters on my wall, new numbers in my phone, new classes to attend – everything is just this bright and shining kind of new and it makes me excited.

i’m starting to get used to living life independently and i’m slowly adjusting to this new and liberating freedom – even if i can’t do my laundry quite on my own or cook for myself yet (i made microwavable clam chowder the other night and it was absolutely disgusting).

however, i do have to start monitoring how much money i spend. there’s just so much going on in this city and i want to do it all and it’s kind of hard to limit myself.

classes have been easy so far (sigh of relief here) but that’s only because my course list is a joke:

– social psychology
– the bible and western culture
– natural disasters
– comparative government and politics

i only have one class tomorrow and it starts at 3.30 pm but i’m grabbing breakfast with nellie and i have a whole ton of other shit to do so i guess i’m waking up early anyway.

these past few nights are finally starting to take their toll on me. i can feel my voice fading away and i’m tired when i shouldn’t be. i guess the seemingly nonstop party has finally reached its end – and walking out at 2 am won’t mean facing a bunch of students smoking after having just returned from one club or another.

frosh itself was kind of a disappointment – the night events never turned out as good as i’d hope they’d be and getting drunk on an open field can only be so fun. every night i went out (essentially every night i’ve been here) i’d encounter what appeared to be a massive dry orgy on the dance floor and i always got sick of it after about half an hour or so.

but still, i’ve met some pretty cool people and made some new friends and i’m actually looking forward to spending the school year here.

i can’t wait until everyone starts getting into the swing of things. i can’t wait for this place to really become my home away from home.

i haven’t really met anyone special yet though – no requited flames of passion here. but i guess there’s time for that.

i’ve decided to rest up tomorrow in preparation for all star weekend.

i’m super excited for calvin harris on saturday.

actually, i’m kind of excited for everything.

here’s to hoping for something good in the city i’m growing to love.
