so bre came to stay in montreal for the weekend and i kind of filmed everything.
i also used an old abercrombie playlist song as a soundtrack to pay homage to where we met.
dirty little whirlwind, i'm pinned to the heart of your swirl.

above: bre and i getting down with blaring music and a bottle of wine on saturday night.
she came over on friday and stayed for the weekend and it was like a little piece of home had come to keep me company. her timing couldn’t have been any more perfect – i’d been getting bored of the routine of this city – of the dirty lights and winding roads. her presence just made things that much better.
friday night –
i took her to factory. we bumped into her high school friends on the way and it reminded me of how small the world can seem. we’re all somehow connected and call me a romantic but the notion makes me smile. i will fall in love with someone and know that i’ve been tethered to them my whole life – in little, minute ways – and the strings have just been drawing together the entire time.
but enough of this sentimental mumbo jumbo.
we danced on risers and poured drinks down our throats and when we were good and ready, we left and headed to korova to meet her high school friends – who are now our university friends, because we all have to grow up sometime.
and then we went home, watched legally blonde and fell asleep.
saturday night –
we were feeling tired and lazy so we blasted some music and popped open some wine and soon we were ready to roll. we headed over to jan’s apartment to catch the last remnants of the power hour he was hosting. it was nice to see bre getting along with my friends and everyone was rowdy and happy and it was great. all of us went to mcdonalds afterwards to grab some grub and it was fun to make fools of our drunken selves in front of people we didn’t care for and who didn’t care for us.
we went back to rez and into laura’s room and continued our shenanigans before getting hungry again.
bre, joffjoff, sebastian and i decided to go get some $2 chow mein and it was on our way back that we got into a fight.
i don’t really know how it escalated but someone eventually insulted me, joffjoff and bre defended me and soon there were punches and blood and yelling and it was all very ridiculous so we pulled away and went back to rez.
bre got sassed by a girl in residence so i took her upstairs and we watched a few episodes of gossip girl before going to bed.
sunday night –
we spent catching up and debriefing over a couple of cups of coffee in the cold night air. we’d spent almost an hour walking around trying to find a nice cafe or a bar to just have a chat in, but everywhere we went was either too quiet or too empty so we ended up at the second cup across the street. we talked and reminisced and generally enjoyed each other’s company, and then we went back home and to sleep.
she’s gone now, and i already miss her.
having her here reminded me how happy i can be when i’m surrounded by the right people
i guess i’ll just have to get used to what my life is now.
this is bre’s drunken recap of what happened on saturday night.
i added the saw theme song for dramatic effect and censored a couple of her more offensive insults for her sake.
shit went down tonight and i am not happy.
and at once i knew/
– i was not magnificent.
i am not good enough to keep everyone.
i’ll lose a few here and there, from time to time.
there will be distance, and heartbreak and tears and tender goodbyes whispered to silent nights.
but if you lose me, you’ll never get me back.
if i feel you’ve deeply wronged me, you will not have a chance to redeem yourself.
if you walk away, you cannot just come waltzing through my door – i will not welcome you with open arms and an open heart. i will not trust you a second time.
unless – of course – i love you, because love is beyond all justice – it transcends what is right and what is wrong and it just lies there, waiting in our hearts, ready to pour out to those who might not deserve it.
love is cruel like that, but also beautiful.
i do not love easily,
but when i do, it’s unshakable.
being sick has given me a lot of time to myself.
a lot of time to think of home – of all those i left behind, but who are still strangely with me – of the ones who really care.
of the ones who love me.
and i miss them.
they are the ones i’ll never lose.
maybe i can find a few to love here
and maybe they will love me in return.
i wanted nick to dance.

a few friends and i standing in our makeshift costumes for the abc (anything but clothes) party last night.
i’m getting strangely accustomed to wearing very little clothing in public.
i wasn’t really feeling up to going out, but jasper eventually persuaded me to.
i was in joffjoff’s room annoying him by lying in his bed as we listened to music (the blues or jazz or whatever it is he’s fond of), while i waited for jasper to get back from her performance.
i got her call and met her in her room and we tore up a few garbage bags. we had our outfits in a matter of minutes, and they were pretty good for a couple of rushed hackjobs.
we wrapped ourselves in coats and got ready to brace ourselves for the winter air – the looks we got were funny and questioning as we made our way over to champs to get our groove on.
some people had been pretty creative with their outfits, adorning themselves with intricately cut cardboard or rows of cans, while others had simply worn a single box to cover their groins.
our friends were djing and we stayed for a while, and by the time we got home i was ready to go to bed.
i’ve been feeling ill as of late, and so has nellbot apparently.
we sold our boys noize tickets and she stayed in while i chose to go to jan’s for a little get together – it wouldn’t be as rowdy as boys noize, but it would still be fun.
i was in no mood to let my body pound back and forth to mindless dubstep – i just wanted a few friends and a good time.
i don’t think i’ll regret it in the morning, even if people tell me i missed out.
now i’m going to sit in my bed and watch revolutionary road or finish reading the hunger games or something.
huzzah.
i was already drunk at this point.
and then i got distracted by food again.

above: me and my new friends after enjoying some wine and cheese (and also sangria and crackers).
last night was fun.
i always love seeing everyone all glitzed up and glamorous. the guys were in suits with ties and all – nice vests and dress shoes, all dapper and suave – and the girls were in pretty little cocktail dresses.
i was in my element.
not to toot my own horn, but i can be incredibly charming when i want to be, and last night i wanted to be. i was all smiles and handshakes and hugs – little compliments and easy conversation flowed from my lips.
i imagined myself as akin to a business man’s wife hosting a party in the ‘50s.
it was great. i met a ton of people and there was free wine and free cheese and a jazz band and really, what else do you need?
and then i was drunk and i went to factory with nellbot and partied like a rockstar.
classy and trashy all in one night.
everything was wonderful.
here’s ian not pulling a canadian accent.
inside the actor’s studio with ian barber.
we can never date because he’s just not very photogenic at all.
