yodit and i went to ravi soups and it was delicious and so worth it.
also, i’m picking up my phone from being repaired tomorrow, so i can finally start taking photos that aren’t complete shit again.
hurray!

is this not how everybody does it?

RAVI SOUPS
i was trying to get to sleep by reading slaughterhouse five by kurt vonnegut, but all of the food descriptions gave me this intense craving for really rich, creamy soup.
so i looked up the best soup in toronto and found this place.
yodit and i are going to the beach tomorrow – hopefully i can persuade her to come with me for some nice, post-tan soup.
EDIT: apparently it’s supposed to rain tomorrow, so maybe i can turn it into a nice “we should have some soup on this rainy day” date and skip the beach entirely!! i’m so excited at the prospect of having soup earlier than i’d previously expected.

i just quit my telesales job lol.
i did it so well and so professionally though.
my boss was like “let us know if things don’t work out and come back any time.”
i’m so good at quitting. i should do it professionally.
i should quit jobs for people who are too scared to do it themselves.

HOW have i only seen this now.
in other news, i closed my first sale at work today (yesterday)!!

-

went in for training at my new telesales job today.
i came a little early so i spent some time sipping an iced coffee in my work building’s courtyard.
i almost closed a sale on my first day, which is apparently super rare, so i guess that’s a good sign.
they acutally hadn’t really taught me how to close sales properley because that was “more of a day two thing” so i kind of just winged it.
i’m not sure how i feel about the job or if i’m going to stick around, but we’ll see.
i also accepted the position of someone’s personal assistant, so that’s exciting.
i now have three jobs.

perfect.

sadiq, yodit, and i went to see our friend cameron sing at the imperial pub on friday night. elaha met us there, but she missed cameron’s set.
it was super cute and his songs were super catchy and we were pleasantly impressed.
then some dreamy guy came on and started playing guitar and we were getting progressively drunker/more restless so we got up and left.
we headed over to sadiq’s where we drank caesars and danced before going to crews.
we eventually met up with cameron and his pal at o’grady’s and we had sweet potato fries and chatz.
it was a fun night
-
walked home by myself and it was super chill and i made a couple of friends and now i’m no longer afraid of the city at night!!

i actually can’t work at aber because of my haircut so i decided to get a job at paradigm telesales (i start on monday) and interview at american apparel.
i basically went through the entire american apparel interview looking like the above photo, so we’ll see how that goes.
-
bad day.
i had an off day today.
i was about six minutes late for my opening shift at aber because i was trying to find a marginally more acceptable way to style my hair.
rana was opening and she scolded me. apparently she’d already called someone just in case i didn’t show up. i clocked in 10 minutes late.
after i clocked in, she let me know that she had written me two write ups: one for being so late for philip’s shift on monday, and one because when i did arrive, i was sporting a stupid haircut.
i was allowed to write comments in response to the write ups (while she looked over my shoulder), so i wrote “i didn’t ask for this haircut, but it’s cool” because i just could not bother to take any of that nonsense seriously. i think she might’ve scoffed when she read it.
it just strikes me as odd that throughout my fours years of working at aber, i only have three write ups and two of them are from her and from the same day.
i mean, i may have shown up pretty late on monday, but i still showed up and helped close (side notes: 1. the guy who cut my hair fucked up and it wasn’t my fault. 2. i feel like instead of writing me up for not abiding by the look policy, she should’ve just sent me home).
what gets me is someone completely missed a shift today under very similar circumstances (she took someone’s shift and completely forgot) and i’m pretty sure she didn’t get written up, but c’est la vie, i guess.
all is fair in love and arbitrary aberdiscipline.
at one point rana told me that i really need to show that i’m a good worker, even though i’ve consistently proven myself with every other manager i’ve ever had.
i guess you really just can’t win em all, but these experiences (and all the stories of my various coworkers’ experiences) kind of make it hard for me to respect her as a manager, which sucks because i’m sure she’s not a terrible person.
so all of that happened.
and then my mom and i went into fido to try and get my phone repaired.
we waited for about half an hour and watched as a girl fiddled with a bunch of nothing before turning to us and saying we’d have to come back tomorrow because she basically didn’t know how to do anything.
i thought about how it must suck to work at a phone service place – all you’d ever do is talk to really angry, impatient people who just want to use their phones or set up phone plans with people who don’t understand what they’re signing up for until the fifth explanation.
it’d probably be so emotionally draining.
now i am at home and about to do some long overdue reading after receiving some slightly alarming news from my boyfriend.
surprisingly, i’m still in a pretty good mood!
-

the man fucked up yesterday and cut my hair too short so now i’m too alternative to work at aber.
i can either shave my head or just wait a couple of weeks for my hair to grow out.
american apparel, here i come!!
