dirty little whirlwind, i'm pinned to the heart of your swirl.

my neighbourhood has never had an ice cream truck. in the summer, we have the knife sharpening truck. it slowly circles the block and rings its ominous bell. i have never seen someone interact with it. it may be that only those marked by death can see it
alex??? this is truly frightening ??
i never really thought about it much until today but you’re right this is honestly a messed up thing for me to be accustomed to

In Japan, radiation creates monsters (Godzilla) and in America radiation creates superheroes
Shockingly, it’s almost like Japan and America have very different narratives surrounding nuclear fallout. Now, if we all think very very hard, maybe someone could think of why this might be.
~everything is connected~
“He groaned again, and didn’t care if he were heard downstairs, at the memory of how she had taken off her clothes in front of him – so indifferently, as though he were an infant. Of course. He saw it clearly now. The idea was to humiliate him. There it stood, the undeniable fact. Humiliation. She wanted it for him. She was not mere sweetness, and he could not afford to condescend to her, for she was a force, she could drive him out of his depth and push him under.”
today i went to church with my family and then we all went to mcdonalds to celebrate my triumphant return home.
just kidding we always go to mcdonalds.
i made my brothers download digimon world when we got home and i spent the entire day reliving my glorious childhood. that game is the effing bomb.
i’ve also been reteaching myself japanese, and it’s so fun.
i love being home.
elaha, sadiq, anna and i all went to dance cave last night and it turned out to be really fun.
we all met up at anna’s new apartment before heading out, and it was nice to catch up with her and tell stories and throw around some light and mostly harmless gossip. it was also nice to introduce friends from different parts of my life. friends friends for everyone!
i bumped into my store manager at dance cave, and it’s always strange and fun to see my bosses outside of work. i guess sadiq’s a manager too, but not really in my mind.
sadiq thought he was going to hate dance cave based on limited previous experience, but he ended up loving it. he swears it must’ve been a different dj or something because they were playing his jams. and my jams. and all of our jams.
elaha and i went back to my place when the night was over, and then her ex showed up. it was the first time i actually got to meet her ex, and apparently it was the first time they’d seen each other in about a year. we sat and watched music videos from the early 2000s in my room and then we started watching the first episode of the face australia. i was paying attention to all of naomi’s shenanigans, but i think they were both very distracted.
then her ex said something rude(?) and there were some tears and it was all very tender and emotional but i was very tired. i left the room so they could hash things out for a bit and then they left at around 5ish.
YOUNG UNARMED BLACK MAN SHOT AND PARALYZED IN HIS NEIGHBORHOOD BY FAKE COP FOR TALKING TO WHITE GIRL IN HIS CAR
On February 4, sitting in his own car in his own neighborhood, talking to a female passenger, Monroe Bird was shot in the neck by a security guard, Ricky Stone, a 52-year-old white man. The bulletpierced the C3 vertebrae in his neck. Standing 6 feet, 8 inches, Bird, a gifted athlete, is now unable to move his arms or legs and relies on a ventilator to breathe.
Heres what you need to know:
The security guard who shot Bird possessed marijuana at the time of the shooting. He told the Tulsa police that he hadn’t smoked it in a few weeks, and they didn’t even give him a citation. This is the definition of white privilege. Mind you,Tulsa was quick to test Eric Harris for drugsafter they killed him and then released the results widely—even though he never acted violently toward officers.
The security guard went to the tired, age-old excuse and claimed that he saw Bird reach into his glove compartment. According to the police report, no weapons were found in or near the car, and no items that even seemed to belong in the glove compartment were found out or about in the car.
The security guard claimed he thought Monroe and his female passenger were having sex in the car and that he only approached them because of this. She’s white. Bird is black. Both denied doing anything of the sort.
The security guard has claimed that Bird, who has no criminal record, attempted to run him over and basically kill him there on the spot.
Both the female passenger and Bird denied the guard’s account and stated that they were driving away when Stone began recklessly firing his gun into the car.
The security guard who shot Bird worked for Benjy D. Smith, who owns Smith & Son Security Company. This important to know because Smith is a reserve deputy for the same Tulsa Sheriff’s Office that is currently under national scrutiny for its unethical practices with Reserve Deputy Bob Bates, who shot and killed Eric Harris earlier this year.
The insurance company is denying him coverage because they claim “it was his own fault that he got shot.”
PLEASE HELP HIM!!
you can eitherDonate(doesnt have to be alot it can be as small as $5) or Call the healthcare group and demand they give coverage with the number listed above.
I just cannot with the world anymore. I avoid the news sometimes cause it is so hurtful. But I also need to be woke.
the constant social media coverage is really hammering home just how disgusting and ubiquitous this problem is, and in many ways it’s merely a symptom of a much larger and more terrifying problem.
today i met up with philip at eatons and we went into abercrombie to get my job back. now i can start making money again.
we wandered around for a bit and chatted and caught up and then he had to go pick up his girlfriend at somewhere near the ex.
when we parted ways i went to fido to finally get my phone sent away for repairs (it wouldn’t connect to wifi and the camera was broken). i had to wait until i got to toronto to do this because when i tried to do it in montreal, they didn’t have any loaner phones and it was horrible.
i’ve been using the loaner phone fido gave me today (pictured above) to take photos, and they’re so horrible that i love them.
i went home for all of two seconds and then went back to eatons to meet up with elaha, who wanted to shop for cute summer things. she bought “festival fit” shorts so now she has to come to osheaga.
we got some post-shopping sushi and then we headed to my place and watched the first couple of episodes of the new season of australia’s next top model.
it’s so nice that i have someone to watch trash tv with again.
sadiq came over at around 10ish and we drank a little bit before wandering outside (presumably heading to the annex) and trying to figure out what to do.
we ended up just grabbing a pizza (the pizza guy really liked us and gave us his number with an offer to give us free basic financial advice or something) and heading back to my place and watching the third and latest episode of the new season of austrlalia’s next top model.
sadiq wanted to dance though, so we’re just going to go out tomorrow.
above: bram (who now goes by casey?) shrouded in the darkness of grace o’malley.
i left montreal at around 4:30pm yesterday and i was supposed to get into toronto around six hours later, but i ended up getting home at around 12:30pm because of the insane amount of construction going on on the 401.
i was exhausted and hungry, but bram managed to lure me out of my house (after inhaling a quick meal) with the promise of free drinks at his new place of employment (the fifth social club).
i thought i was only going to be out for 45 minutes and a couple of drinks but i was very wrong.
i got there and got my drink and he introduced me to his coworker who introduced me to her friends and then we all made our way to gracies for some dancing, i guess.
i bumped into a few people and the night provided a kind of jolting “oh yeah, i’m back in toronto” experience, which i didn’t mind at all.
i even ran into gabe, an old friend from high school, and i’ve got to say, i like ucc guys way better now that we’re not all trapped within the confines of those hallowed halls. i probably should’ve had a better attitude in high school. i definitely should’ve at least attended more.
i also bumped into my old coworker jess, and we held hands at the end of the night and i walked her to her streetcar stop, even though i was supposed to walk partway home with bram.
i got home at around 3ish, and my mom made me soup.
