December 2023
-4: My family came to visit me in the UK! I met them in Edinburgh, and then we came back to London before heading to the Cotswolds. It was an amazing time, but I unfortunately got wasted at a networking event (and then a pub, and then some random girl’s hotel bar, and then another pub) the night before my flight to Scotland and got my phone stolen. Honestly, it was maybe the most stressful experience I’ve had in my whole life and the trauma of it made me truly reevaluate the role alcohol plays in my life. I’m now sober and have been since the beginning of the new year. But having my family there was great, Edinburgh was beautiful, and the holiday season in the Cotswolds felt like magic.
Back home, with Bre. We went to a sober market that sold non-alcoholic spirits and wine. I tested positive for covid a couple of days later after having just returned to Toronto 🙂
Post-covid recovery, hanging out with Amber and David just like old times. I miss my Toronto friends!
New Year’s Eve at Joff’s! He made such a delicious dinner and I was bummed I couldn’t spend all night with him, but alas, I had other friends to see for the limited time I was there.
-9: New Year’s Eve at Conor’s. I got too drunk and ended up missing my family’s midnight new year’s feast for the first time in…that actually might’ve been the first time I ever missed it. I was racked with guilt the next day, but I knew it was a last hurrah before swearing off alcohol for the foreseeable future. I’ve been sober since.
We recreated the new year’s eve photo since I missed all the pictures. I’m kind of cheating because this was actually on January 1st.
