above: me and a few of my friends sitting outside gardner at about 4:30 am after a really good concert and an amazing, neon-lit night.
we went to see zeds dead on friday and everything went right.
wait, scratch that, there were some technical difficulties and it took forever for zeds dead to actually come on, but it FELT like everything went right, and really, isn’t that the only thing that matters?
i was with good company and the venue was nice and the lights were flashing and the music was blasting and everything was active and sweaty and beautiful – the noise in my ears and the pulse of it all, the rhythm flowing through my veins and out my limbs and the nonstop heart-quickening movement.
we were even on stage at one point, and i looked out and saw the crowd – all of those people lost in the music – and i smiled at the energy and carelessness of the masses.
this was the best night i’ve had in this city by far, and i’m so happy i made it out and didn’t die like i did the saturday before that.
by the time we exited the building, we were covered in sweat (our own and other people’s) and we were all just happy to be breathing in and feeling the cold air of a good night.
we walked home, got changed out of our sexy clothes and into frumpy sweaters, and then headed up to gardner to do some illegal things and relax.
and after we were done being little criminals, we went back home and watched the sunrise.
now i’m sitting in my bed, sick as can be, with a garbage bin next to my bed for snot-filled tissues.
i missed my classes yesterday because i was too ill, but i’m going to be a good and dedicated student and head to social psychology soon.
things are starting to pick up around here.
i gave my presidential candidate speech yesterday – in a big and booming voice – and it was received with a hearty round of applause and cheering – i took this as a good sign.
i might even have a hand to hold in a little while – a pair of eyes to look into with useless words thrown away, and a bare body to keep me warm in the winter.
who knows, really.
only time will tell.
