can you tell this weekend was all about fun?
sunday (the most eventful day of the weekend): about a month and a half ago i bumped into paul – an old friend from high school – at my brother’s graduation and he asked me if i’d work at a party for him during pride weekend. all i had to do was serve snacks and chat with guests, so it seemed like a pretty decent way to earn an extra $100 for four hours of work.
the party turned out to be a massive brunch on the patio of a penthouse downtown and it was all very lavish and fun.
at some point paul introduced me to his friend jim, and jim asked me to go to the party he was having that night.
i said i’d go.
the party ended and i met up with elaha and joseph to watch bre dance at one of the stages. then we went to bre’s house and ate and drank some more.
it was a very much needed, relaxing break from all of the hectic festivities.
eventually we made our way to the party, which was in the depths of rosedale.
it turns out jim is an incredibly famous – and incredibly wealthy – figure in the world of academia and his house is this gorgeous, gargantuan work of art and architecture (which has been cited as “one of the most important private houses built in North America in a long time”).
obviously this was all very impressive and there was an open bar – pretty good indicators of a champion’s night.
needless to say we all got wasted, ended up in a pool, and i disappeared for a while. i was probably running around in my underwear as elaha found all of my clothes (and my phone and my wallet) in the bathroom next to a sauna.
hookups were had left, right and center and it was a blurry, riveting mess of a night (in the best way, obviously).
elaha and i slept over and in the morning jim was kind enough to provide us with breakfast.
i played him a song on his beautiful piano in his spacious concert hall and then we were on our way.
i think i’ll be talking to jim soon.
