is it weird that i only just now remembered i have a youtube channel?
and that i have no recollection of ever writing this song?
i was reminiscing and going through my songbook, and there were, like, ten that i can’t even remember writing.
dirty little whirlwind, i'm pinned to the heart of your swirl.

above: a shot of me and cadence at annika’s. please don’t mind the state of my face – that’s my intoxicated gaze.
so i went over to annika’s after work for her birthday party yesterday.
i’d gone to the lcbo before work to pick up some green apple smirnoff (good call) but i didn’t pick up any coca cola because i was sure there was bound to be some chasers at her place.
i was wrong.
i got there and there were a bunch of people sitting around the couch telling a joke or something and people already seemed to be kind of tipsy, so i put my stuff down, whipped out my alcohol and proceeded to make drinks with the only chaser in the house: apple juice.
green apple vodka and apple juice actually go pretty well together, so i was pleased.
also, there was cake.
at some point in the night, people started stripping down to their underwear in the kitchen (i somehow ended up with no shirt on) and i took a couple of photos, but i’m not going to post them because of the ridiculous amounts of shame that would ensue.
things started to get pretty sloppy and kisses were going round and round and i saw some old friends, met some new ones and overall i had a pretty okay time (except for the whole losing my headphones part).
shannon was a hot mess, which i absolutely loved, and throughout the course of the night, i made three new best friends, got a boyfriend, broke up with him, made living arrangements for next year, started a fight with a new best friend, made up with her, and had some dramz.
it was great.
and afterwards, as i was on the way to the subway with mark and his girlfriend, this woman stopped us and offered us her car keys and money because she thought we were criminals who were out on a hunt for someone to mug.
it would’ve been hilarious if it wasn’t kind of sad.
that woman must be so scared of the world.

above: a snapshot taken of me and the aberkids at lot 332 on saturday night.
we all went over to lot 332 for a triple joint birthday bash (daneel, sahifa, yura).
i’d never actually gone partying with a large group of coworkers before (there were probably at least twenty of us) and i’ve got to say, having that many friends around made it really fun.
i showed up at osgoode and caught yura and james emerging from the subway. we were the first ones there. worries were raised about the dress code of the place – yura was dressed pretty classy, james was semi-formal and i was in a casual shirt and jeans.
sahifa showed up a bit later, and while the rest of them went off to starbucks to wait for everybody else, i decided to go home and change since i lived so close anyway.
i came back in a black dress shirt and dress shoes, and sahifa said it was better.
everybody else was really late, and we ended up meeting up with them outside of the club. it was a hassle getting in (we weren’t supposed to have to pay cover or something) but i was kind of glad for all of the commotion because it led to me not getting id’d, and we all know that’s always risky business.
so we get inside and find our booth and we had bottle service so this girl started mixing us drinks.
it didn’t take long for all of us to get tipsy, as per, and soon we were all warming up to the idea of dancing. but the music kind of sucked in our room so charissa and i decided to drag a bunch of people out to get our jive on. the dance floor was kind of crowded, but we were a big enough group to clear our own path, and the music was better so we all loosened up and started moving to the rhythm.
it’s kind of a blur of dancing and bodies and shots from there, but it was really fun, and by the time we made it back to everyone else, we all knew it was a pretty good night.
we left at about two thirty (time passed by really quickly), and a few of us headed to pho for some post-clubbing eats.
jp was loud, and we were rude, but it was okay and we were forgiven (hopefully) because everyone knew we were drunk.
on our way out, cassi almost got into a fight with this bitchy girl who was telling us all to move out of her way.
gotta love the aberkids.
i haven’t written a lifepost in a while because i’m so busy, so i guess i’ll make up for it by giving you all an uneventful snippet of my life.
i was sitting in starbucks sometime last week (it was a half day but i had to wait for rehearsal to start), and this old man saw me take out my laptop and started talking to me.
“so this is where the young people do all their work nowadays?”
or something to that effect.
at first, i thought he was just another creepy old man trying to chat me up, but when i turned to take a look at him, something made me think differently.
he was sitting there all by himself with a half full cup of coffee in front of him, the spoon resting face down on the saucer, and he seemed to just be idly watching the world.
i don’t remember how we got into it, but we started talking about his time in the war. he recounted tails of him and his comrades and showed me a dusty old photo of him in his uniform after proudly taking it out of his wallet.
he’d been in two different wars, apparently, and we were just getting to talking about the israeli-palistinian conflict when his wife walked in and summoned him away.
he’d been peacefully waiting for her and i was just someone to talk to.
i love old people.
