i’ve started using chatroulette recently (yes, i’ve moved one step up from omegle.com) late at night when i’m really bored and there’s nothing else to do. there’s something really strange about having a video conversation with a complete stranger who may very well be halfway across the world.
lots of people go on the site to try and chat up girls into exposing their boobs (i get a lot of people who end the conversation before it’s even began because i’m boobless), and i’ve had to filter through all the exposed penises and naked men (pervs will be pervs), but the few people i’ve actually managed to have a decent conversation with have made it somewhat worth it.
i met a french guy from lyon a while ago who gave me a free french lesson.
yesterday i met a spanish dj and we had a pretty long convo about music and life. we’ve exchanged email addresses and he sends me his tunes, which i guess is pretty cool (i kind of ignored the sense of danger my parents had instilled in me as a child).
then i talked to this 12 year old and told him he was much too young to be using such a dangerous site.
but i always find starting the conversation to be quite a difficult task; the first few seconds are always almost unbearably awkward. but if you get past that stage and actually start talking, it can actually be quite fun.
just, you know, be careful.
